2023-2024 Limited shirt creative direction + design / photoshoot creative + art direction
The shirt commemorates the 130th anniversary of the Central Military Club building in Sofia, where CSKA was founded. The shirt’s design incorporates unique elements inspired by the architecture and history of this iconic building:
The embossed front pattern mirrors the intricate fine mosaic laid in the building’s earliest days.
An inner tape along the shirt’s hem features dates inscribed in the ceiling of the main ceremonial hall, honouring historic battles of the Bulgarian army and pivotal moments in Bulgarian history.
The back showcases golden “Armymen” embroidery, a title uniting all CSKA fans under the proud legacy of the glorious Bulgarian army.
“CSKA” embroidery in Glagolitic script in the bottom left front of the shirt. The Glagolitic script holds deep historical and cultural significance for Bulgarians, as it was a foundational tool in the spread of literacy, Christianity, and cultural identity in the earliest days of Bulgaria. Created in the 9th century by Saints Cyril and Methodius, Glagolitic was the first Slavic alphabet and one of the earliest scripts used to write down the Old Church Slavonic language, which became the liturgical and literary language of many Slavic peoples, including Bulgarians. The Glagolitic script represents not only an alphabet but also the beginning of an enduring literary and religious tradition in Bulgaria. It is a powerful symbol of Slavic heritage, Bulgarian identity, and the importance of literacy and learning in Bulgarian culture.
